So you want to bill some customers? Let’s do it!
If you’re going to bill customers on a subscription/recurring basis (e.g. invoice them and/or charge a credit card each month), the first thing we have to do is set up your Products & Services.
Products & Services contain information about what you’re selling, and how much you charge your customers for it.
From the ChargeOver menu on the left side of your screen, go to "Configuration" then "Products & Services"
Once you’re there, click the big blue “New Product/Service” button.
Creating a product or service is pretty quick and simple – you’ll choose a name for your item, a short description, and choose how you want to price your item.
For now, we’ll just do a simple, flat-rate plan – $25.00 per month.
Once you create your Products & Services, you can re-use them over and over again for each customer (and even customize the pricing on a per-customer basis too).
OK, we’re ready to sign up our customer! Click the orange "Sign up a new customer!” link at the bottom of the left menu.
Enter in your Customer information. You can enter in a name, e-mail address, and billing address, and company if applicable. ChargeOver also supports some more advanced stuff like “tagging” customers, storing additional contacts, customer identifiers for use in external integrations, and more… but we’ll keep it simple for now and cover those in a separate walk-through/tutorial.
On the final form, you’ll set up the Billing Package for your new customer. The Billing Package is a record of the subscription, and will be used to generate an Invoice every billing cycle (every month, or every year, or etc.).
ChargeOver will tell you the rate for each line item on the Billing Package, give you information about when the Billing Package was last invoiced, when it will be invoiced next, allow you to add notes to the Billing Package, and more. Additionally, if your business accepts credit cards, you’ll be able to set up this customer for automatic credit card billing – an invoice and payment receipt will automatically be e-mailed to your customer.
That's it! You’re finished! “Keith’s Company” will automatically be billed every month for their cell phone plan!
