Two recurring billing platforms priced in opposite ways. Here is how they compare.
Compare in person on a live demo →Chargebee fits a SaaS or usage-based product with an engineer on the billing project: hosted checkout, usage ingestion, in-app purchases, 40+ gateways and global tax, with revenue recognition, CPQ and retention sold as separate products. If billing is an API you integrate and your revenue is going to grow into its percentage, Chargebee was designed around you.
ChargeOver fits a business that bills customers on a recurring basis and wants the billing to run itself: agencies on retainers, accounting firms, SaaS companies under a few thousand customers, ISPs, alarm dealers, anyone sending the same invoices every month. You get subscriptions, one-time invoices, automatic retries on declined cards, a customer portal and 40+ reports in every plan at a flat monthly price, and a person to call when something looks off.
Chargebee's Flow plan is $0 a month plus 0.80% of everything you invoice, or $99 a month plus 0.65%. Bill $250K a month and the fee is $2,000, or $1,724 on the commitment. Grow revenue, pay more.
ChargeOver is a flat monthly price set by how many customers you bill, from $229. Bill those customers $50K a month or $500K and the price is the same.
Chargebee is API-first: usage ingestion, Chargebee.js, hosted checkout, webhooks. It is at its best when an engineer owns billing and finance buys RevRec on top.
ChargeOver is set up from the admin screen, with no code. Subscriptions and one-time invoices on the same statement, a sync to QuickBooks Desktop, Online and Xero, and support that is a chat or a Zoom call with a person.
Chargebee puts multi-entity, parent-child accounts, Salesforce and contract terms on its custom-quoted Enterprise plan, several as paid add-ons, and sells revenue recognition as a separate product.
ChargeOver's Enterprise Basic plan is $549 a month, month to month, and includes revenue recognition, parent/child accounts, Salesforce and a second brand on the same account.

The businesses above are examples; your ChargeOver price depends on how many active customers you bill. ChargeOver plans: Growth $229/mo for up to 200 active customers, then $1.15 each; Enterprise Basic $549/mo for 500, then $1.10; Enterprise Growth $999/mo for 1,000, then $0.90; Enterprise Plus $1,999/mo for 2,500, then $0.60. The calculator shows whichever plan is cheapest for the customer count. Chargebee is shown at its published list price as of September 2026. Chargebee Flow: 0.80% of monthly invoicing volume with no platform fee, or $99/mo plus 0.65%; we show whichever is cheaper. Card processing fees are extra on both platforms. Negotiated contracts will differ.
Used by agencies, accounting firms, SaaS companies and service businesses billing 50 to 5,000 customers.

You send us an export of customers, plans and open invoices. We load them into your ChargeOver account, map your plans and billing cycles, and connect the payment gateway you already use, so stored cards keep working where the gateway supports token migration. You run both systems for one billing cycle, compare the invoices, then switch the customer-facing emails over. Most of the work is on our side.
It depends on how much you bill. Chargebee's Flow plan is $0 a month plus 0.80% of everything you invoice, so at $30K a month it is about $240, and at $250K a month it is $2,000, or $1,724 on the $99 commitment. ChargeOver is a flat $229 a month for up to 200 customers and $344 for 300, whatever you bill them. Below roughly $30K a month of billing Chargebee can be cheaper; above it ChargeOver pulls ahead, and the gap grows with your revenue.
Yes. ChargeOver's revenue recognition follows ASC 606: revenue is recognized on a schedule and deferred revenue is reported, built in from the Enterprise Basic plan. Chargebee sells revenue recognition as a separate product, Chargebee RevRec, priced on request, with its own Performance and Enterprise tiers.
It matters a lot. Chargebee is built around SaaS and usage-based products: hosted checkout, usage ingestion, in-app purchase management, growth experiments. ChargeOver bills agencies on retainers, accounting firms, alarm dealers, ISPs and SaaS companies the same way, with subscriptions, one-time invoices and usage charges on one invoice. If your customers get an invoice rather than a checkout page, you are our customer.
An export of customers, plans and open invoices from Chargebee, an import on our side, one parallel billing cycle to compare, then a switch of the customer-facing emails. Chargebee's plans include billing data portability with payment methods, so stored cards can carry over where your gateway supports it. Book a demo and bring your customer count; we will give you a timeline on the call.
Yes, both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online, plus Xero. Invoices, payments and customers sync without re-keying. Intuit stopped selling new Desktop Pro and Premier subscriptions to new customers in 2024 and is steering customers to Online. If you're on Desktop today, ChargeOver keeps syncing while you're there and syncs to Online when you move, so your billing doesn't have to change twice. Chargebee's integration is with QuickBooks Online only; its documentation says QuickBooks Desktop is not supported.
Yes. ChargeOver bills metered usage on the same invoice as subscriptions and one-time charges. If you push tens of millions of usage events a month with real-time limits and alerts, that is what Chargebee's metering is built for, and it goes further than we do there.
